I’m back.
The Fight Club Zen apartment needed some supplies. All I had was two bottles of dodgy water and some protein shake.
I’ve just returned from The Middle of Cape Town with some snacks. This is just the coolest place to hang around, watch people and take in the vide of “The Real Cape Town”.
You know that scene from Killing Zoe.. “Zoe: I’ll show you a real Paris”.. well I’ve been thinking somebody needs to make a list of The Real Cape Town places to visit. Second on my list is The Labia.
Visit The Middle of Cape Town on a Saturday between 0:00 and 4:00. Very entertaining place. On some nights it really is the middle of the city.
I like Roger Avary’s work.
The weekend in the Cederberg was fun. The Walking Simpsons Encyclopedia (WSE), The Big Man with the Beard and I traveled in the WSE’s new car. We were driven by Miss Daisy.. WSE is still very protective of his new ride.
We did what people do on farms in the middle of nowhere. Eat well, read (magazines), made a nice fire, a few afternoon naps, enjoyed some good red wine and listened to Edith Piaf. This sounds like a girl’s holiday? wtf.
Don’t worry, there was also red meat, beer, a massive piece of tree trunk in the fire, humor of questionable taste and RATM (I’m not sure why?, this really does not mix well after the soundtrack from Shine)
Thanks Craig, for making GQ the only magazine I care to regularly read. I also took the latest edition of One Small Seed along.
While reading the GQ, The Big Man pointed out that some of his illustration work is in the latest copy. There is an article in the Small Seed featuring another member of the Am I Collective team.
They are doing very cool things. Keep an eye out for their work. The Big Man should be at the next GeekDinner.
I forgot my camera at home, so I really had a technology-free weekend.
The finalists in the SA blog awards will be revealed on Monday. I’m interested to see if the 3 blogs I nominated make it.
Tomorrow morning I’m going for a tour of what is rumored to be the most advanced datacentre in Cape Town.
Time for my beauty sleep.

Hi Joe,
Just read some of the “Nightswimming GeekDinner” comments and thought I’ll throw in some of my own on the above-mentioned blog.
In regards to your comments on RATM after ‘Shine’…
I believe music is an extension of your personality and variety and words in music is important. I must say a bit of Rage after Shine might be a bit opposite poles, but as the CD changer follows it’s own course, one is always free to get up from your chair and change the music. But if you take discussions during such a weekend into account, words from the RATM song “Settle For Nothing” & “Freedom” (from Album: RATM btw) makes a whole lot of sense. Taking that into account, Shine before RATM was of questionable placement but yet avoidable.
Confrontation it seems is not everybody’s strong point and most would try and avoid it at all costs in life. That might be a good topic for my own blog someday
All in all an awesome weekend, sun”shine” or not.
WSE,
get yourself a blog (-:
