Gainsburg is a classic. It has the perfect position on Kloof street, a very
elegantly styled interior and a vibe that is.. very Cape Town. I love the
menu because just about everything on it appeals to my palate, I almost want
to make tick marks next to the items I have eaten there because I seem to
fall back on the walnut pasta or the sweet chilli chicken salad most of the
time.

Clean, open, space. Gainsbourg has the feel of a cooking programme set. The
open kitchen in the centre of the restaurant creates a busy yet friendly
atmosphere. Seating is very much in a coffee shop style, with tables rather
compactly spaced closer to the street, but there is a quieter more roomy feel
towards the back.

<para>
I liked the music, it's usually a bit jazzy which works well for watching
the interesting looking people you find in Gainsbourg. The vibe is
laid back cosmopolitan.

<para>
My one gripe is that the smoking section consumes the entire front of the
restaurant which leaves the non smokers having to hang back away from the
pavement and the view of Kloof street.
</para>
<para>
This is a perfect spot for light lunches and salads. The food is fresh,
wholesome and very tasty.

The service is very good. The staff are friendly and professional.

Gainsbourg is one of my favourite lunch spots and it is an all round good
quality dining experience.

The kitchen is the cafe - food under cold glass; crisp white chef's hats
bobbing between grill and prep surfaces. The menu is imaginative -
interesting blends and visual feasts. A top salad spot.
</para>
<para>
The choices as follows (all delicious)
 - sweet chilli chicken
 - goats feta, beet root and butternut (roasted)
 - parma ham and rocket
</para>
<para>
Spoil yourself.

Illy coffee and professional good looking staff; prime location on Kloof
street. Parking is tricky, but there is a car park at the nearby Spar. Kloof
street may be a bit noisy but this is the inner city.

<para>
Clean lines, signature dishes, a fine wine list and fabulous deserts.
</para>
<para>
Very european feel (the owner thus is Belgian) and guaranteed quality makes
this restaurant a winner from the morning cappuccinos, light lunches to
lovely intimate dinners with friends, family or your significant other.
